MQTT MCP Server

Lightweight MCP server that connects agents to MQTT devices, so they can read sensor topics and publish commands for smart home, building automation and industrial systems

01 · What it does

  • Receive a message from a topic, with a timeout
  • Publish a message to a topic
  • Set a default broker host and port with environment variables, or pass them per call
  • Each topic is also exposed as an MCP resource (mqtt://host:port/topic)
  • Optional AuthKit authentication for the HTTP transport

02 · Install

$ export MQTT_MCP_MQTT__HOST=10.0.0.1
$ export MQTT_MCP_MQTT__PORT=1883
$ uvx mqtt-mcp
  1. Serves Streamable HTTP at http://127.0.0.1:8000/mcp/ by default; point your MCP client (or MCP Inspector) there
  2. The README has no client config snippet, so none is shown here
  3. Docker: ghcr.io/ezhuk/mqtt-mcp:latest with -p 8080:8000 --env-file .env
  4. Settings can also go in a .env file in the working directory

Install steps taken from the project README (its recommended path first). Placeholders are the maintainer's. Not bench-tested by HardwareMCP yet.
