sigrok-mcp-server

MCP server for sigrok: capture, decode and analyze signals from logic analyzers and measurement devices, with I2C, SPI, UART, CAN and 100+ protocol decoders

01 · What it does

  • Scan for connected sigrok hardware and show driver details
  • Capture data from a device and save it to a file
  • Decode captured files with sigrok protocol decoders (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN and 100+ more)
  • List supported hardware drivers, decoders and input/output formats
  • Check whether firmware files for your device are present

02 · Install

$ docker pull ghcr.io/kenosinc/sigrok-mcp-server
$ claude mcp add sigrok -- docker run -i --rm ghcr.io/kenosinc/sigrok-mcp-server
  1. The config is the README's Claude Desktop entry with USB access (--privileged); drop --privileged for file-only decoding
  2. Some devices (e.g. Kingst LA2016, Saleae Logic16) need firmware: mount it at /usr/local/share/sigrok-firmware in the container
  3. From source: Go 1.25+ and sigrok-cli, then go build -o sigrok-mcp-server ./cmd/sigrok-mcp-server
  4. Env vars: SIGROK_CLI_PATH, SIGROK_TIMEOUT_SECONDS, SIGROK_WORKING_DIR

03 · Client config (from README)
