Agentic Web Instrument Control (AWIC)

Browser, AI-agent and SCPI control for cheap USB bench instruments (oscilloscope, logic analyzer) from one Rust server, with USB hub port power switching.

01 · What it does

  • Drives FX2-based 8-channel 24 MHz USB logic analyzers and 2-channel USB oscilloscopes, using sigrok's open firmware
  • Captures, measurements, protocol decoding and rendered views from an agent
  • Live recorder with pattern search, so the agent doesn't pull raw samples
  • USB hub port power switching and serial ports
  • Every agent action shows up in the web UI log

02 · Install

$ sudo apt install sigrok-firmware-fx2lafw fonts-dejavu-core
$ mkdir awic && cd awic
$ curl -LO https://github.com/mrn2se/AgenticWebInstrumentControl/releases/latest/download/awic-linux-x86_64
$ chmod +x awic-linux-x86_64
$ ./awic-linux-x86_64
  1. Linux x86_64 only. The README marks it a first version, under development
  2. USB access without root needs the README's udev rules (99-awic.rules); as shipped they open every matching instrument and hub port power to the plugdev group, so adjust them first
  3. Web UI at http://127.0.0.1:8080/, MCP at /mcp on the same port, SCPI on port 5025
  4. stdio clients: `awic mcp-stdio --url http://127.0.0.1:8080/mcp` proxies to a running server

03 · Client config (from README)
