arduino-mcp-server
Wraps arduino-cli so an agent can detect boards, compile and upload sketches, monitor serial and run electrical safety checks
01 · What it does
- Detect connected boards and ports and infer FQBNs
- Install cores, compile sketches and upload, optionally waiting for a ready signal
- Stateful serial sessions: open, read, expect a pattern, write, close
- safety_preflight checks pin voltage and current, battery charge rate and polarity, and ESP32 flash and boot pins
- Board pin and capability reference you can browse and search
02 · Install
$ npm install -g arduino-mcp-server- Needs arduino-cli on your PATH, or ask the server to install it (arduino_cli_doctor, install_arduino_cli)
- ARDUINO_SKETCH_ROOT restricts sketch paths to one folder
- Not affiliated with this directory: the hardware-mcp GitHub org is a separate project that happens to share the name
03 · Client config (from README)
{
"mcpServers": {
"arduino": {

Install steps taken from the project README (its recommended path first). Placeholders are the maintainer's. Not bench-tested by HardwareMCP yet.
