Unitree Go2 MCP Server

Control a Unitree Go2 robot dog in natural language; commands are translated into ROS 2 instructions

01 · What it does

  • List the robot's ROS 2 topics
  • Publish wirelesscontroller commands (linear and yaw velocity, pitch, keys) for a set duration
  • Run actions: stand up from a fall, sit down, stretch, shake hands, greet, dance, jump forward, pounce
  • Stop all current actions
  • Optional rosbridge connection instead of ROS 2 directly

02 · Install

$ git clone https://github.com/lpigeon/unitree-go2-mcp-server.git
$ cd unitree-go2-mcp-server
$ pip install uv
$ uv venv
$ source .venv/bin/activate
  1. First set up unitreerobotics/unitree_ros2 up to its "Step 2: Connect and test"
  2. Edit UNITREE_ROS2_SETUP_SH_PATH in server.py (and LOCAL_IP / ROSBRIDGE_IP / ROSBRIDGE_PORT if you use rosbridge)
  3. Configure it on the PC connected to the Go2; ros2 topic list should show /wirelesscontroller
  4. Tool list: MCPFUNCTIONS.md in the repo

03 · Client config (from README)
